Fumito Ueda

Fumito Ueda is a Japanese game designer and head of GenDesign studio.

Ueda is best known for his PlayStation-exclusive narrative adventure games Ico (2001), Shadow of the Colossus (2005), and The Last Guardian (2016).

Ueda started his career at Sony Computer Entertainment Japan in 1996, working on D no Sokutaku: Director’s Cut and Enemy Zero.

After gaining critical acclaim with Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, which he was allowed to develop with a small team, Ueda founded Gen Design in 2014. He continued to collaborate with Sony Japan.
