Xenoblade Chronicles composer to contribute music for Metroidvania Bō
The 2D platformer inspired by Japanese folklore releases next week
Xenoblade Chronicles composer Manami Kiyota has signed up to contribute music to upcoming Japan-inspired Metroidvania, Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus.
Bō is a hand-drawn 2D platformer based in a colourful world of Japanese folklore. Players control a fox spirit that grows from lotus blossom “after being blessed by the moon god”.
The game was funded on Kickstarter with $175,000, and will release for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on July 17.
On Friday, the game’s developer announced that Kiyota has contributed two exclusive music tracks for the game.
“These tracks are not just compositions but masterpieces brought to life with live Japanese instruments, infusing an authentic and immersive atmosphere into the game,” it said.
“Manami Kiyota’s unique ability to blend traditional Japanese musical elements with our compositions adds a new dimension to our game’s world, making your journey through the Celestial Realm and the epic encounter with Gashadokuro even more memorable.”
Bō’s main score is composed by Moisés Camargo, blending traditional Japanese instrumentation with modern orchestral music.
