Xbox’s latest controller is the colour-changing Aqua Shift

Microsoft has announced the latest colour in its range of Xbox Series X and Series S wireless controllers.

The Aqua Shift Special Edition is available on August 31, at a price of $69.99 and comes in a special blue colour that gives off a ‘shimmering’ effect.

“Aqua Shift features a surreal, colour-shifting blue shimmer that you need to see to believe,” Xbox’s official announcement states.

“Playing with the way the prismatic colour moves across our controller, you’ll feel like Aqua Shift comes to life in your hands. Inspired by the fantasy that gaming brings into our lives, we know this mystical beauty will add that magic your controller collection needs.”

According to Xbox, the Aqua Shift controller is “the first Special Edition Xbox Series X|S controller to feature rubberised side grips with a unique dual colour swirl on every unit”.

Last month three new Xbox Series X/S controller designs were released to tie in with the Space Jam: A New Legacy movie.

Back in March, Xbox announced two other controller colours, called Electric Volt and Daystrike Camo.

The Electric Volt controller featured a “high-energy, yellow resin not yet seen on Xbox hardware” and was “inspired by the energy and vibrance often found in athletic apparel and sneaker design”.

The Daystrike Camo Special Edition controller, meanwhile, was the third in the Camo series of controllers, following on from the Night Ops Camo and Arctic Camo controllers previously released for Xbox One hardware.
