Where to buy Sony’s new PS5 Pro console

Sony used a technical presentation on Tuesday to finally unveil its long-anticipated PlayStation 5 Pro console.

In addition to detailing the console’s specifications, Sony confirmed launch details for the system, including the PS5 Pro release date, price and pre-order information.

PS5 Pro will launch on November 7, 2024, with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $699.99 / £699.99 / €799.99 / ¥119,980.

The console will be available at participating retailers and directly from Sony at its online store PlayStation Direct. Pre-orders will begin on September 26.

PS5 Pro is a disc-less console with a 2TB SSD. There will be an option to buy the currently available Disc Drive for PS5 separately.

The console will also include a DualSense wireless controller and come with a copy of Astro’s Playroom pre-installed.

Lead system architect Mark Cerny detailed PS5 Pro’s technical specifications in a nine-minute presentation today.

The system introduces a larger GPU, advanced ray tracing, and AI-driven upscaling for new and existing titles.

Other enhancements include PS5 Pro Game Boost, which can apply to more than 8,500 backwards compatible PS4 games playable on PS5 Pro. “This feature may stabilize or improve the performance of supported PS4 and PS5 games,” Sony said. “Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 games is also available to improve the resolution on select PS4 games.”
