Uncharted could release for PC in July, according to internal Steam release dates
Developers are required to include a planned release date in Steam’s backend, but they could be placeholders
The PC release dates for a number of upcoming games including Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection may have been revealed via an update to Steam’s API.
As noted by SteamDB founder Pavel Djundik, Valve has added release timestamps in the API, which are visible even for unreleased games.
Steam now requires developers to set a planned release date in its backend for games to have a store page, even if the information doesn’t match that listed on the public-facing product page, which could simply say ‘coming soon’, for example.
It’s likely some of these internal release dates are merely placeholders, but they may also hint at actual release dates, release targets or launch windows, although if so, some already appear to be outdated.
For example, Atomic Heart’s internal Steam release date is listed as June 22, but a trailer released for the game last month confirmed it will arrive in the last four months of the year. Steam’s frontend lists the game’s release as TBA.
Internal release dates listed for some upcoming games include (via Tech Raptor):
- Stray – April 19
- Bomb Rush Cyberfunk – May 26
- Oxenfree II: Lost Signals – June 30
- Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection – July 15
- Sonic Frontiers – September 1
- Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown – September 22
Sony has confirmed that the PC version of Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection, which is being developed by Iron Galaxy, will be released in 2022.
