The sequel to the first Mario + Rabbids game was originally announced with a trailer in June 2021, but very little has been seen of the game in the year that has since followed.
However, Gematsu reports that on Monday the official Ubisoft Store site listed the game’s release date as October 20, along with details of a ‘Gold Edition’.
The date has since been removed from the store, but can still be seen on archived versions of the page.
According to the removed description, Sparks of Hope will be available in a Standard Edition and a Gold Edition, with the latter including a season pass that contains future DLC with new story content featuring new heroes, quests and battles.
The Gold Edition will also reportedly include the Galactic Prestige Pack, which includes three exclusive weapon skins.
The appearance and swift removal of the new information suggests that Ubisoft is preparing to officially show more of Sparks of Hope soon, perhaps at the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase taking place later today.
The show will focus mainly on third-party titles, rather than the games Nintendo currently has in development.
The original Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was released in 2017 and was critically acclaimed for its sense of humour and its solid tactical gameplay.
A year after launch, it received a DLC expansion called Donkey Kong Adventure, which was similarly well received.
