The special edition of PS1 platformer Tomba! is out today

The special edition of cult PlayStation platformer Tomba! is out today.

Tomba! Special Edition is available on PS5, Switch and PC for $19.99 / £15.99, published by Limited Run Games.

The game stars a pink-haired, caveman-type character who has to save his island from the evil Koma Pigs, while also searching for his grandfather’s golden bracelet.

The special edition adds new quality of life features and new bonus content, including:

• The ability to create save points anywhere (instead of relying on checkpoints)
• A rewind feature, which lets players retry moments when they make a mistake
• The ability to toggle analogue control on or off
• A Museum mode containing numerous print ads, box art, manuals development documents and original artwork in high resolution
• A new remastered soundtrack
• Interviews with the creators

Limited Run is also taking pre-orders for physical versions of Tomba! Special Edition on Switch, PS5 and PC, in three versions:

• A standard physical release for $34.99
• A Classic Edition for $69.99 (includes a retro-style PS1 box, a two-disc soundtrack, a poster and a steelbook)
•  A Whoopee Edition for $149.99 (includes the Classic Edition contents, a hardcover artbook and strategy guide, a Tomba figure, a Koma Pig figure and Art Prints

Pre-orders for the physical versions of the game end on September 1.

Limited Run also announced in June that it would be re-releasing the game’s sequel Tomba! 2 at some point in the future.
