The name of It Takes Two studio Hazelight’s next game has seemingly been revealed
A reliable insider has leaked the game’s title ahead of an official announcement
The name of It Takes Two studio Hazelight’s next game has seemingly been revealed by a reliable insider.
Last week creative director Josef Fares teased the studio’s next co-op game, posting a messgae on X in which he called it “a brand new IP called S**** ******N”.
This post was then quoted by the official Hazelight account, which posted a redacted image of a script, with various notes and post-its including the phrase “co-op”, suggesting the studio will continue the multiplayer-only nature of its previous titles.
Although the game’s name has yet to be officially announced, dataminer billbil-kun, who has a long track record of leaking new games and hardware prior to their official announcement, has seemingly revealed it in advance.
In a post on the Dealabs blog, billbil-kun states that the game will be called Split Fiction, and suggests that the way the game splits the screen will play a large part in the gameplay.
Hazelight’s teaser image includes various sketches showing a screen being split in numerous directions, so it appears that some sort of dynamic split-screen mechanic will be a main feature.
Hazelight specialises in co-op adventures, with both its releases to date – A Way Out and It Takes Two – only playable in two-player co-op, with no single-player mode available.
Hazelight confirmed last week that It Takes Two has sold more than 20 million copies.
In an interview with VGC back in 2022, Josef Fares discussed the studio’s next game, saying it would be “a surprise in a good way” and adding: “It’s definitely going in the right direction. And it’ll be something really fucking cool.”
