The map has been tailored for the returning Resurgence mode, a streamlined spin-off of the game’s regular battle royale with respawns enabled, and it will also be an additional DMZ infiltration option.
As well as general stability fixes, weapon balancing and tweaks to PC audio and UI, Season 2 will also include new features and gameplay changes, such as the return of 1v1 Gulag and an end to players dropping backpacks when they die.
Redeploy Drones, a high-tech successor to the Redeploy Balloons previously featured on Warzone’s Caldera map, will be introduced during the season, offering a “high-risk, high-reward way to reposition around Ashika Island”.
Also coming to Resurgence mid-season will be a new AI combatant type called the Rusher, which specialises in close quarters combat.
Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah map will also see points of interest updated in Season 2, including the addition of a downed aircraft north of Sa’id City.
The new multiplayer maps are Dome (Core Map), Zaya Observatory (Battle Map), Al Malik International (Battle Map) and Valderas Museum (Core Map).
Half a dozen new modes are on the way, headlined by Infected and Gun Game, both of which will be available at launch. So too will Grind and Hardcore, while Drop Zone, All or Nothing and One in the Chamber will follow during the season.
Raid Episode 2 will also arrive mid-season, with Price, Farah and Gaz returning in a continuation of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign.
Season 2 will add new weapons including:
- ISO Hemlock Assault Rifle — ISO Platform (Launch, Battle Pass)
- KV Broadside Shotgun — Kastov Platform (Launch, Battle Pass)
- Dual Kodachis Melee Weapon (Launch)
- Crossbow (Marksman Rifle Category) (Launch Window)
Warzone 2 combat records (they won’t include statistics from Season 1) and Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer leaderboards will also come online as part of Season 2.
