The Last of Us ‘knock-off game’ removed from Switch eShop

The Last Hope: Dead Zone Survival has been removed from the Switch eShop.

The game appeared on the storefront last week, where it was quickly highlighted on social media for seeming to be a “knock-off” of Sony‘s The Last of Us.

Now, the game has been removed from the eShop and trailers are being taken down from YouTube by Sony. Neither Nintendo nor Sony have commented on the matter.

Analysts Digital Foundry called the game “The worst game we’ve ever tested,” as part of a video showing off the game’s dated graphics.

” I’d mostly ignored the shovelware-infested digital storefronts and assumed many of them were innocuous, but when you see something like this it really pulls back the curtain on the depravity festering within certain corners of the industry,” wrote Digital Foundry’s John Linneman in a piece about the game. 

The game is seemingly developed by West Connection Limited, a developer with several games on the eShop, although The Last Hope: Dead Zone Survival is the most blatant copy of another game.

Curious players who purchased The Last Hope: Dead Zone Survival can still play the game on Switch, and it’s still re-downloadable.

Searching for the game on the eShop now returns an error message, or in some cases redirects users to a popular recent game.
