The Ghost of Tsushima movie has found its writer

PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures have revealed the screenwriter for the Ghost of Tsushima movie.

The film adaptation of Sucker Punch’s action adventure game will be written by Takashi Doscher, Deadline reports.

Doscher previously wrote and directed sci-fi romance Only, starring Freida Pinto and Leslie Odom Jr, thriller Still, starring Madeline Brewer, and the ESPN documentary A Fighting Chance.

The Ghost of Tsushima film is in early development and is being directed by John Wick’s Chad Stahelski.

Sucker Punch’s game follows Jin Sakai, a warrior fighting against Mongol invaders for the freedom of Tsushima in an adventure that draws on Japanese history and the traditions of samurai cinema.

It was first released for PS4 in July 2020 and sold over 2.4 million copies in three days to become PlayStation’s fastest-selling original IP.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut released in August 2021, including a new Iki Island expansion and several PS5-only features.

Sucker Punch claimed in January that Ghost of Tsushima had sold over eight million copies.

Following February’s Uncharted movie, Ghost of Tsushima is the second film project from PlayStation Productions. The studio was formed in 2019 by Sony Interactive Entertainment to adapt its original game properties for film and TV in partnership with Sony Pictures.

PlayStation Productions is also working on a The Last of Us HBO TV series and a Twisted Metal TV series from Deadpool’s writers, among other projects.
