The first BioShock 4 image has reportedly appeared online

An early, mid-development image of BioShock 4 has reportedly been shared online, showing an early glimpse at the 2K sequel’s UI design.

The image – published by MP1ST – is said to originate from a work reel belonging to a 2K visual effects artist, which hasn’t been linked to protect their privacy.

Notably, the image features the codename ‘Parkside’, which was referenced by journalist Colin Moriarty back in 2021, in which he revealed alleged details on the new BioShock game, including its setting.

2K first announced back in December 2019 that work had begun on a new entry in the BioShock series, but it has been tight-lipped about the project in the years since.

The game is being created by 2K’s new Cloud Chamber studio, which was established especially for the project in 2K’s San Francisco Bay Area headquarters in California, as well as in Montréal, Québec.

Cloud Chamber’s team includes a number of BioShock veterans, including design director Jonathan Pelling and creative director Hoagy de la Plante.

Pelling was a designer on the original game, as well as creative director at the 2K Australia team that assisted in the creation of Infinite’s floating world of Columbia, while de la Plante was involved in the original BioShock across multiple disciplines including level design, art and programming.

BioShock’s original director, Ken Levine, isn’t involved in the new game. He’s working on Judas, the debut title from fellow 2K studio Ghost Story Games, which Levine formed following the closure of BioShock and BioShock Infinite developer Irrational Games.
