The Division 2 tops March PlayStation Store sales

The Division 2 was the best-selling PS4 game on March’s US and European PlayStation Store charts.

In the US, Ubisoft’s loot shooter sequel debuted ahead of fellow March releases MLB The Show 19, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Devil May Cry 5.

Europe’s top sellers were The Division 2, Grand Theft Auto V, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, FIFA 2019, EA Sports UFC 3, and Devil May Cry 5.

The US PlayStation Blog also publishes monthly PS VR, Vita and free-to-play charts, which were topped by Beat Saber, Jak and Daxter Collection and Apex Legends respectively.

Monthly sales data published on the EU PlayStation Blog is more limited, but it includes a PS VR chart headed by Beat Saber too, and a DLC chart dominated by Fortnite packs.

According to research from trade body UKIE, 80% of UK spending on console and PC software (including DLC and microtransactions) in 2018 was digital.

VGC’s The Division 2 review said Ubisoft’s shooter offers slick thrills and plenty of content but features a dreadful story with nothing to say.

“If few can reasonably complain about the sheer volume of stuff in The Division 2, it ultimately feels like an all-you-can-eat buffet of gourmet junk food,” the verdict reads. “It’s keen to impress you with the size of its spread – and to make sure you’re too busy wolfing it down to realise it’s probably not doing you much good.”
