Tekken director jokingly commends Sony for accidentally pricing Tekken 2 at $9,999

Long-running Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada has jokingly commended Sony for mistakenly pricing Tekken 2 at almost $10,000.

As spotted by Twitter user TheKBGamer, Tekken 2 briefly appeared for purchase on the PlayStation Store priced at $9,999.00.

This was clearly in error, especially considering the game is only supposed to be available as part of a PS Plus Premium subscription.

In response to the tweet, Harada – who has worked on the Tekken series since its inception – commented: “WHAT A MARVELOUS PRICE SONY.”

Tekekn 2 isn’t currently available for purchase on the US PlayStation Store. While some PlayStation classics have been made available to buy, they typically cost between $5-10.

Additional classic games have been made playable through the all-new PS Plus offering, which launched in North America yesterday.

The newly published North American games line-up contains many games that weren’t previously announced, including over 400 titles for the PS4/PS5 as well as almost 300 PS3 titles that can be streamed.

Metal Gear Solid, a series that featured heavily on the now-retired PlayStation Now, is completely missing from the new PS Plus library.

PlayStation Plus’s new Essential, Extra and Premium tiers are expected to launch in Europe on June 22.

PS Plus Essential offers the same benefits as the previous PS Plus service, with monthly free games, discounts and online multiplayer.

The subscription service will debut in Asia in May, followed by North America and Europe

Meanwhile, PS Plus Extra includes the same benefits but with access to a library of 400 downloadable PS4 and PS5 games. These games will include Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, Returnal and more.

Finally, PS Plus Premium includes the above benefits but adds up to 340 additional games including PS3 titles available via cloud streaming, and a catalogue of classic games available in both streaming and download options from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PSP generations.
