Stray is coming to Xbox in August
An ESRB rating for the Xbox version was spotted last month
An Xbox version of Stray will be released in August, publisher Annapurna Interactive has announced.
The critically acclaimed platformer, which stars a small nameless cat, will come to Xbox consoles on August 10.
This news had been expected, after an Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) rating for an as-then unannounced Xbox version of the game was spotted in May.
Published by Annapurna Interactive and developed by small French studio BlueTwelve, Stray was critically acclaimed when it released on PS4, PS5 and PC in July 2022.
The game has players taking control of a stray cat in a post-apocalypic world. After falling down a hole into a walled city, the cat has to find a way back to the surface while also interacting with the city’s robotic residents.
When it launched on PC, Stray comfortably became Annapurna’s biggest release on the platform to date, with over 62,000 concurrent players.
Stray would go on to become the second-highest rated game on Steam in 2022, behind only Vampire Survivors.
It’s also been nominated for numerous awards, and won a number too, including Best Debut at the Game Developers Choice Awards, and Best Independent Game and Best Debut Indie Game at The Game Awards 2022.
VGC’s Stray review also called it one of Annapurna’s best releases to date.
“Stray is a masterclass in environmental design, with one of the most engrossingly detailed game worlds we’ve explored,” our review read.
“Like its protagonist it’s a little on the short side, but what’s here will stay with you for a long time. Essential.”
