Stellar Blade will add Nier Automata DLC and a photo mode next week as part of a major title update.

Launching on November 20, the patch will also introduce new costumes for protagonist Eve and lip-sync support for six additional languages (French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, and Latin American Spanish).

“Nier:Automata significantly inspired Stellar Blade,” Shift Up chief technology officer DongKi Lee said in a PlayStation Blog post. “The collaboration between Director Kim Hyung Tae and Director Yoko Taro, marked by mutual respect and creativity, led to this successful outcome.

“In the center of all this is Emil (voiced by Maii Kadowaki), the strange character from Nier:Automata. Emil’s Shop makes a surprise appearance in the world of Stellar Blade where eleven different collaboration-special items will be available. Items that intertwine the best of both games, leading you to a more enriched world.”

The game’s photo mode will let players pose Eve, change her outfit, and add new visual effects to screenshots.

“You can now transform each moment in the game into your personal masterpiece,” Lee said. “Beautiful landscape, thrilling battles, those emotional moments with the characters… Capture these moments to your heart’s content. Meticulous camera work and various filters allow you to create unique looks.”

Shift Up has confirmed that it’s exploring the possibility of releasing Stellar Blade for PC and developing a sequel to the game.

Ahead of its PS5 release in April, VGC’s Stellar Blade review called it “one of the most mechanically satisfying action games of the generation.”

We said: “For those who wished that God of War Ragnarok offered a bit more challenge or that Bayonetta had a bit more weight to its combat, this slick sci-fi slasher is the perfect tonic, offering both the perfect entry point into the Souls-like genre and a refreshing refinement of the well-worn character action formula.”
