Square Enix says there are ‘no plans for Final Fantasy VII Remake on other platforms’
Firm issues statement after Xbox social post
Square Enix says it has “no plans” to release Final Fantasy VII Remake on platforms other than PlayStation 4.
The publisher issued a statement to VGC on the matter after Xbox Germany posted a video to its Facebook page earlier this week suggesting the game will be released on Xbox One as well as PS4 on March 3, 2020.
Update, December 10: Final Fantasy VII Remake will be exclusive to PlayStation platforms for one year.
Original story continues: The video was quickly picked up on social media before its removal, prompting an apology from Xbox DACH marketing and social lead Maxi Gräff, who said it had been posted mistakenly.
Square Enix announced in a press release last month that the highly anticipated game will “debut first” on PS4 on March 3, 2020, although Twitter user Nibel notes that the Final Fantasy VII Remake E3 trailer didn’t include the “play it first on PlayStation 4” line featured in earlier trailers.
Asked if there are plans to bring Final Fantasy VII Remake to Xbox One, or if the game is still a PS4 exclusive, a Square Enix spokesperson told VGC: “As previously announced, Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released for the PlayStation 4 on March 3rd 2020. We have no plans for other platforms.”
Final Fantasy VII Remake won Best of Show in the Game Critics Awards for E3 2019.
