Sony has released an extended plane fight scene from the Uncharted movie

Sony Interactive Entertainment has released an extended Uncharted movie scene featuring almost two and a half minutes of action.

The ‘Plane Fight’ scene viewable below delivers a set-piece inspired by Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’s Stowaway chapter, which sees the protagonist attempting to stop himself being ejected from a cargo plane’s ramp door while engaging in mid-air combat.

Following a six-month delay, the Uncharted movie is scheduled to hit theatres on February 18, 2022.

Rather than following the plot of the PlayStation games, which have sold over 41 million copies, the film tells a prequel story featuring Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) as a young treasure hunter learning from his mentor Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg).

In a blog posted on game developer Naughty Dog’s website in October, film director Ruben Fleischer (Venom, Zombieland) said he “made the movie for both hardcore fans of the game and those who are not yet familiar with the franchise and believe[s] that both will be equally entertained by this incredibly fun and action-packed film”.

Sony released the first Uncharted movie trailer in October and the second one in December.

The Uncharted movie is the first feature film from PlayStation Productions, a studio formed by Sony Interactive Entertainment to adapt its original game properties for film and television in partnership with Sony Pictures.

PlayStation Productions is also working on a The Last of Us HBO TV series, a live-action Ghost of Tsushima movie helmed by John Wick director Chad Stahelski, and a Twisted Metal TV series from Deadpool’s writers, among other projects.

Sony recently announced the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves PS5 release date, alongside details of the collection’s graphics updates, pricing and upgrade options.

Containing remasters of Uncharted 4 and its expansion The Lost Legacy, the PS5 version of Legacy of Thieves will be released on January 28, 2022, with a PC version to follow later in the year.

The latest Uncharted movie footage debuted during Sony’s CES 2022 press conference, which was also used to reveal the PlayStation VR2 specs and its first game, Horizon Call of the Mountain.
