The game will be available in two separate editions: the Standard Edition and a Premium Edition.
According to Ubisoft, the Premium Edition will inclue the ‘Ballad of Bloody Bones Collection’, two missions, a digital soundtrack and more.
Players who pre-order the game will also gain access to the Highness of the High Sea Pack, which includes Notoriety Garb and a Coronation Firework.
A series of live tests will take place before the game is released, and Ubisoft is advising anyone who wants to take part to register on the game’s official website.
“Enter the perilous paradise of Skull and Bones, inspired by the Indian Ocean during the Golden Age of Piracy, as you overcome the odds and rise from an outcast to an infamous pirate,” Ubisoft’s accompanying blurb reads.
“Craft a variety of unique ships to survive, thrive, and rule in an immersive world that introduces new challenges and features every season.”
The cinematic trailer was also accompanied by a 7-minute gameplay overview trailer, which can be viewed below.
Skull & Bones was originally scheduled for release in 2018 but has been delayed on a handful of occasions. The project was then rebooted in 2020.
Ubisoft recently confirmed that the game will include an in-game event designed to promote the issue of overfishing, as part of plans to highlight climate issues through its games.
“Our first activation will address resource exploitation, showing what happens in the game world and the real world when the demand for sharks’ fins results in the overfishing of sharks,” Ubisoft said.
“Players will have the choice to contribute to marine wildlife protection and comprehend the destructive nature of the shark fin trade.”
It added: “As players contribute to community challenges, rewards will be unlocked for all players depending on the overall level of participation.”
