Sega announces that reboots of five classic series are in development

Sega has announced that it is developing new entries in five of its classic series.

In a new trailer shown at The Game Awards, it was announced that new games in the following series are in development:

  • Jet Set Radio
  • Streets of Rage
  • Golden Axe
  • Shinobi
  • Crazy Taxi

Using the slogan “Power the Next Level”, Sega released a trailer (seen above) which shows all five games in action.

“New Era, New Energy,” the company stated. “Just announced at this year’s The Game Awards – new games now in development, including Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, and Golden Axe. Sign up for the SEGA newsletter to stay up to date on the latest development news.”

Footage of what appeared to be a Jet Set Radio reboot or remaster was leaked back in April.

It had already been reported last year by Bloomberg that Sega had been working on big-budget reboots of Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio, according to its sources.
