Rocksteady is reportedly working on a Hogwarts Legacy Director’s Cut

Rocksteady Studios is currently helping to develop an unannounced Hogwarts Legacy Director’s Cut.

That’s according to a new Bloomberg report charting the troubled development of the studio’s live service flop, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, on which parent company Warner Bros. has taken a $200 million loss.

Weeks after the title’s disappointing launch in February, Warner Bros. Games boss David Haddad reportedly visited Rocksteady’s London office to deliver an update on its plans for the studio.

Haddad is said to have used an all-hands meeting to inform staff that the company wanted to do more collaboration between its dozen studios, which also include TT Games, NetherRealm Studios, Monolith Productions, Warner Bros. Games Montréal, Avalanche Software, and Warner Bros. Games Boston.

He said Warner’s games business was relatively understaffed compared to other publishers, and that it wasn’t planning to cut jobs at Rocksteady.

According to Bloomberg, a large number of Rocksteady developers are currently working on a new version of Hogwarts Legacy, which has sold over 24 million copies since its release last February.

The Harry Potter spin-off, which was 2023’s best-selling game ahead of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, received a free summer update today.

Following the Batman Arkham studio’s struggles in the live service space, it’s claimed that Rocksteady leaders are also planning to pitch a new single-player title to Warner Bros. Games.
