Resident Evil Code Veronica is officially the next game in the series to get a remake
The game is coming to all formats next year

Capcom has announced a remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica.
Simply titled Resident Evil Veronica, the game will be released in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC.
Originally released in 2000 and overseen by series creator Shinji Mikami, Code Veronica was a Dreamcast exclusive, but later made it to PS2 and GameCube. The game – which canonically fits in between Resident Evil 2 and 3 – follows Claire Redfield and her brother, Chris Redfield, as they fight to survive an outbreak on a remote prison island.
It’s claimed that the game, which was the fourth main Resident Evil title to be released, was originally intended to be a full mainline sequel to Resident Evil 2, before a Sony exclusivity deal saw it rebranded as a spin-off.
Code Veronica was technically the last Resident Evil title to focus purely on survival horror, before Resident Evil 4 took the franchise in a more action-oriented direction.
An updated version of the game, Code Veronica X, was released for PS2 (2001) and GameCube (2003), and later ported to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011.
When it’s released, Code Veronica will be the fifth Resident Evil game to get a remake. The original was remade on the GameCube back in 2002, and over the last decade, Capcom has remade Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4, all of which were warmly received by critics and fans, and have racked up millions of copies in sales each.
