Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown gameplay revealed at Ubisoft Forward
The game will be released in January 2024 for PC and consoles
The first extended gameplay of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has been shown off at Ubisoft Forward.
The game sees players exploring a “semi-open world,” acquiring powers that enable them to revisit past areas and discover their secrets, and features “time powers” that are essential for traversal.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was the opening game reveal at last week’s Summer Game Fest showcase.
The Lost Crown will be released on January 18 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
“Dash into a stylish and thrilling action-adventure platformer set in a mythological Persian world where the boundaries of time and space are yours to manipulate,” said Ubisoft. “Play as Sargon and evolve from sword-wielding prodigy to extraordinary legend as you master acrobatic combat and unlock new Time Powers and unique super abilities.”
In a new tweet, Ubisoft has described the game as “an action-adventure platformer game set in a mythological Persian world.”
Its promotional blurb for the game reads: “In this brand-new adventure, players will embody Sargon, a young, gifted warrior, and member of an elite group called The Immortals. As they are sent to rescue Prince Ghassan, they will explore Mount Qaf, a once wondrous place, now cursed and hostile.
“Sargon and his brothers-in-arms will soon discover that time itself will be a treacherous foe and that the world balance must be restored.
“Inspired by the Metroidvania structure, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown lets players explore a handcrafted world at their own pace. From the majestic Citadel of Knowledge to the colorful landscapes of the Hyrcanian Forest, players will discover a variety of environments inspired by Persian mythology.
“By acquiring new time powers, unlocking unique abilities, and combining them in combat, Sargon will progressively delve deeper into Mount Qaf, solving puzzles, finding secrets, and completing exciting side quests.”
