Pokémon Sword and Shield ‘tied to’ Roku crashes
Roku working on a fix for problem impacting “limited number” of devices
Running Roku devices and Pokémon Sword and Shield for Nintendo Switch on the same network is reportedly causing some Roku media players to crash and get stuck in a boot cycle.
While it didn’t say what’s causing the issue, which is reportedly impacting users with different Roku sticks and even Roku smart TVs, Roku has acknowledged the problem and said it’s working on a fix.
“We are aware of an issue when using Nintendo Switch and the latest Pokémon game impacting a limited number of Roku devices,” the company said on Reddit.
“We are working diligently to resolve this issue. In the meantime, turning off your Nintendo Switch or setting to airplane mode should resolve the issue.”
Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield reviews went live ahead of the Switch title’s November 15 release date.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield recorded strong opening week sales at UK retail, with the former alone enjoying the biggest exclusive game launch of the year.
Combined, Pokémon Sword and Shield achieved the second biggest launch for Pokémon games in UK history, behind only 2016’s Pokémon Sun and Moon.
About a third of Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield’s 300+ person core team contributed to other projects during its development, analysis of the game’s credits reveals.
