PlayStation Stars might have a hidden, invite-only ‘Diamond’ tier

A hidden 5th tier of PlayStation Stars membership has reportedly been found in the PlayStation mobile app.

The tier, which is allegedly called Diamond according to datamined info, is reportedly invite-only, according to text allegedly found within the App.

Several images referring to Diamond tier rewards have also been found, which are hosted on the PlayStation website, as well as a description of the tier.

“In an endless sea of stars, it seems like there’s nowhere to hide. But you wouldn’t be here if you let challenges like that stop you. Welcome to Level 5.”

Considering both of these images are hosted on PlayStation’s official website, they’re certainly real, but whether or not they’ll actually be used is yet to be seen.

PlayStation Stars, which is coming to the west later in October, lets players earn rewards by completing a variety of campaigns and activities.

The program also has a four-tier level system, in which all players start at Level 1 and can work their way up to Level 4 by buying games and earning trophies.

A fifth tier is unannounced, but the evidence of the images and description could suggest that it’s something Sony plans to introduce in the future, potentially when the service is rolled out worldwide.

Controversially, the service appears to offer high-tier users priority support, which has been received poorly by players in regions where the service has already launched.

This essentially appears to mean that Level 4 PlayStation Stars members can skip the queue when contacting customer support with an issue.

After Japanese site Automaton pointed this out on Twitter, numerous followers expressed their frustration at the perk, with some pointing out that good customer service should be a standard and not something you have to pay for.

“Customer support must be equal”, Twitter user akutarosu said. “There are people who only like a few titles and play them, and there are gamers who can’t afford money or time.”
