Sony says it’s coming back in phased regional rollouts

PlayStation Stars loyalty scheme returning after a month of unavailability

The PlayStation Stars loyalty scheme is returning following almost a month of unavailability.

The service has been out of action since early June, and Sony has failed to specify why.

“We’re aware of an issue with PlayStation Stars and are actively working on a solution,” the company said last month.

In an update on the PlayStation Stars site this week, Sony said the service would be coming back in the near future.

“PlayStation Stars will be returning soon in phased regional rollouts,” it said. “Thank you for your patience and we look forward to welcoming you back.”

And according to reports on Reddit, PlayStation Stars is active again in some Asian territories like Hong Kong and Thailand.

PlayStation Stars launched in late 2022 via the PlayStation App. At the time, Sony said it planned to expand the service to consoles at a later date.

“By joining PlayStation Stars, you can use your gaming skills to collect unique digital collectibles and earn rewards,” according to the platform holder.

“Complete campaigns, earn points and show off your collectibles in a digital display case on PlayStation App as a way of celebrating your love of play and PlayStation experiences.”

July’s first wave of PlayStation Plus games were made available today. This month’s PlayStation Plus Essential games are Borderlands 3 (PS4, PS5), NHL 24 (PS4, PS5) and Among Us (PS4, PS5).
