Players share Modern Warfare 2 remaster ‘No Russian’ gameplay

Modern Warfare 2’s remastered campaign has released early for some German players – and it retains the controversial ‘No Russian’ sequence.

The mission in question has players undercover with a group of terrorists, who then gun down innocent civilians in an airport. In most versions of the game players have the choice of whether they join in or not, however in the German release shooting civilians results in failure.

UPDATE: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is out now for PS4.

ORIGINAL STORY CONTINUES: In the original version of Modern Warfare 2 players were issued with a “disturbing content notice” at the start of the campaign, offering the option to skip the mission entirely.

As you can see in the footage below, the sequence now features even more visual detail with new elements added to the airport itself.

Modern Warfare 2’s remastered campaign will release this week, VGC understands.

The much-tipped remaster, which is thought to have been developed by Wisconsin-based Raven Software, is most likely to arrive with the PlayStation Store’s big weekly update, which takes place later today.

Just like 2016’s re-release of the original Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will feature an updated version of the shooter’s campaign.

While there is no multiplayer mode included, some of the original game’s maps have already been remastered for the 2020 Modern Warfare game, with more coming in its upcoming Season 3 update.

MW2 Remastered will feature a tie-in with the new Modern Warfare, and thus free-to-play Warzone which shares the same item store.
