PlatinumGames is working on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin
The TMNT game is in development at the Bayonetta studio
PlatinumGames is working on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, it’s been confirmed.
A teaser trailer that was shown during Summer Game Fest‘s showcase revealed that the Bayonetta studio is developing the upcoming action game.
A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game based on the popular The Last Ronin comic book was announced three years ago, but at the time it was stated that Black Forest would be developing it, with THQ Nordic publishing.
It would appear that this is no longer the case, with Platinum developing this game and Paramount Games Studio on publishing duties.
Paramount Games Studio is a new studio comprised of all Paramount and Skydance gaming studios, including Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media.
The new group is described as “a unified gaming studio built on captivating storytelling, immersive gameplay, and bold, fan-first innovation”.
“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is a AAA action-adventure game being developed by Platinum Games and published by Paramount Games,” the game’s official description reads.
“Based on the popular comic book series, TMNT: The Last Ronin follows the last surviving Ninja Turtle as he embarks on a desperate mission for vengeance. TMNT: The Last Ronin will be available on consoles and PC.”
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin was a five-issue comic book series published by IDW Publishing.
Written by series creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird along with Tom Waltz, the story takes place in an alternate future wherein the Foot Clan has successfully taken over New York. Only one of the four Ninja Turtles remains, the titular Last Ronin.
