Overcooked is now free on Epic Games store, Torchlight is next
Weekly free game promotion set to run throughout 2019
Overcooked is now free to download from the Epic Games store.
Ghost Town Games’ co-op cooking title is the latest addition to Epic’s weekly free game offer, which was recently extended to the end of 2019.
It will be available as a free download until June 11, when it will be replaced by Runic Games’ action RPG Torchlight.
According to Epic, there had been more than 25 million free game installs as of May 2019.
It also said in March that it’s planning to bring Ubisoft back catalogue titles to its free game programme.
Earlier this week, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney revealed the company is set to fund the cost of all Kickstarter refunds resulting from the PC version of Shenmue 3’s switch from Steam to a 12-month Epic Games store exclusive.
Additionally, the executive said Epic will either cover refunds or secure advance keys on rival stores for any future crowdfunded games that switch to Epic Games store exclusives.
Sweeney recently defended the company’s strategy of signing PC exclusives for its digital storefront, claiming it’s the only way to challenge Steam.
