Original Joel & Ellie actors to return for TLOU Universal Halloween event
The immersive experience will be based on the original game’s Pittsburgh chapter
The original actors who portrayed Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us are reuniting for Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights event.
Both Troy Baker and Ashely Johnson have recorded new dialogue for the upcoming The Last of Us Universal Halloween Horror Nights theme park event.
Speaking SFX Magazine, Universal Orlando’s Lora Sauls confirmed: “We got to use the voiceover actors from the video game. We did voiceover recordings with them and they re-recorded our entire dialogue for our haunted house.
“So we were very, very excited to work with both Troy and Ashley on the re-recording of our haunted house dialogue.”
The event, which takes place at Universal Studios theme parks every year based on different themes, will this year see players traverse through a scare maze based on the original game’s Pittsburgh location.
The event takes place from September 1 at Universal Studios Orlando and September 7 at Universal Studios Hollywood. The event ends on November 4 in Orlando and October 31 in Hollywood. Tickets are on sale now.
Last month, the game’s TV adaptation received 24 Emmy nominations.
Nominations for The Last of Us include Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series (Pedro Pascal as Joel) and Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series (Bella Ramsey as Ellie).
Among the nominations it received in the Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series category were Murray Bartlett as Frank and Nick Offerman as Bill in the well received third episode of Season 1, Long, Long Time.
The Emmy Awards is scheduled to take place on September 18, 2023.
