Nintendo relaunches Mario Kart World Nintendo Switch 2 bundle at a much higher price

Nintendo’s cost-effective and popular Mario Kart World console bundle is returning, but at a higher price.

New bundles launching in September include the Nintendo Switch 2 console in addition to either Mario Kart World or Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, but they are impacted by recently announced price increases.

The Nintendo Switch 2 launched in June 2025 at $449.99 USD, and a Mario Kart World bundle was priced at $499.99 USD. From September 1, the price of the standalone Nintendo Switch 2 console will increase to $499.99, and the Mario Kart World bundle is returning with a 90-day Nintendo Switch Online membership code for $549.99.

This represents a $50 price increase from launch a little over a year ago. The newly added 90-day NSO membership retails for $7.99, resulting in a total price increase of $42 when deducted from the cost.

A Nintendo Switch Sports Resort console bundle has also been confirmed and will be priced at $529.99. It also includes a 90-day NSO membership. A digital copy of Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is priced at $49.99.

These bundles will also be launching in the UK and Europe, but will not be the version with a user-replaceable battery.

Last month it was announced that Mario Kart World would receive new Knockout Tours in free updates.

In January, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said the company was closely monitoring RAM prices and tariff impacts.

Since then, both Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation consoles saw price rises.

Valve’s Steam Machine also launched at a price that was “significantly more” than desired.
