Nintendo is reportedly launching a new Switch OLED bundle in November
The console looks set to be packaged with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Nintendo is set to launch a new Switch OLED console bundle that comes with the platform’s best-selling game.
That’s according to highly reliable dataminer billbil-kun, who revealed launch plans for the unannounced Nintendo Switch OLED – Mario Kart 8 Deluxe pack in an article published on Dealabs.
While it will reportedly come in specially designed packaging, the bundle will include a standard Switch OLED console (neon red/neon blue) rather than a special edition one.
It will also include a download code for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
The bundle will reportedly launch in Europe on November 20 with an RRP of €349, although billbil-kun has spotted it being listed by one French retailer for €310.49. UK and US pricing haven’t been confirmed.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is Switch’s best-selling game. As of June 2023, it had sold 55.46 million copies, according to Nintendo.
That puts it ahead of Animal Crossing: New Horizons (42.79m), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (31.77m), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (30.65m) and Super Mario Odyssey (26.44m).
Nintendo of America launched a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe hardware bundle this month which comes with the standard Switch console rather than the OLED model.
It expects to sell 15 million Switch consoles during the current fiscal year ending in March 2024, which would represent a 16.5% year-over-year decline, and will continue supporting the console with new games next fiscal year.
The company is yet to officially comment on plans for its next console. However, according to VGC sources, Nintendo has dispatched Switch 2 development kits to key partners, with a launch planned for the second half of 2024.
The platform holder also showed off tech demos for its Nintendo Switch successor behind closed doors at Gamescom in August, it’s understood.
