New Japanese trademarks include potential Sega Judgment sequel
And possibly a new engine in the works at Koei Tecmo
A new set of Japanese trademarks have been published, potentially revealing new games and projects in development at several companies.
The trademarks, which were spotted by Gematsu, include Lost Judgment from Sega, which could potentially refer to a Judgment sequel.
Developed by Sega’s Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, Yakuza spin-off Judgment originally released for PS4 in Japan—where it’s called Judge Eyes—in 2018 before coming west in 2019.
Other notable trademarks rounded up by Gematsu include Sega Music and Koei Tecmo’s Katana Engine. Here’s the full list:

Review: Judgment is a fun, but muted Yakuza game in disguise
Judgment will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Stadia on April 23, 2021.
Priced at $39.99, the remastered version will include all of the original’s DLC, “refined” visuals, 60 FPS performance and faster loading times.
Judgment sees players assume the role of lawyer-turned-investigator Takayuki Yagami, who’s working a case related to Kamurocho’s criminal underground.
VGC’s Judgment review said the game “doesn’t deliver on its investigative pitch, but its humour and sense of place still shine”.
Our critic wrote: “Judgment is plenty entertaining, but it is just a muted Yakuza game in disguise. And after so many games of smashing faces into concrete, we hoped for a little more than that.”
