Netflix’s new animated Castlevania series has received a release date
Castlevania: Nocturne will hit the streaming service in September
A release date for Netflix’s new animated Castlevania series has been announced.
Castlevania: Nocturne will premiere on the streaming service on September 28.
“It begins. Teaser trailer drops tomorrow,” Netflix said on Wednesday.
The company announced last June that Castlevania: Nocturne was in production.
“The series is led by showrunner Kevin Kolde and Creator/Writer Clive Bradley and produced by Project 51 Productions with production services provided by Powerhouse Animation,” read the description accompanying the show’s reveal trailer, which is viewable below.
“Castlevania: Nocturne follows Richter, a descendant of the Belmont family, popularized in the iconic Symphony of Night and Blood of Rondo Castlevania games.”
The last mainline installment in Konami’s Castlevania game series was 2014’s Lords of Shadow 2, which was outsourced to an external developer, Spanish studio MercurySteam.
However, VGC exclusively reported in 2021 that a “reimagining” of the series was in development internally at Konami in Japan, with support from local external studios.
Sonic Prime Season 2 hit Netflix earlier this month, while the concluding episodes of The Witcher Season 3 will premiere on Thursday.
Netflix is working on an original, multiplatform, triple-A game at a recently established studio in California, which is led by Overwatch executive producer Chacko Sonny.
The team also includes the studio’s creative director Joseph Staten, the Halo veteran who left Microsoft in March, and art director Raf Grassetti, who previously held the same position at God of War developer Santa Monica Studio.
