Netflix has released Sonic Prime Season 2’s first episode early on YouTube
It’s available to watch now ahead of Season 2’s Netflix release in mid-July
The first episode of Sonic Prime Season 2 has been released.
Episode one, Avoid the Void, has been made available on YouTube ahead of Season 2’s Netflix release on July 13.
“Shadow ambushes Sonic in the void of the Shatterverse to confront his rival about the destruction of Green Hill — and take matters into his own hands,” reads the blurb for episode one, which is viewable below.
Consisting of eight episodes, Season 1 of the show arrived on Netflix in December 2022.
It saw Sonic accidentally creating the Shatterverse, a multiverse of alternate dimensions populated by different versions of his friends.
Episode one of the first season was also streamed ahead of its Netflix release, through the free-to-play game platform Roblox.
Netflix announced Sonic Prime back in February 2021, when it said the series would consist of 24 episodes.
“Sonic and his crew battle cyborgs, robots and the Chaos Council in this adventure series based on the popular video game,” Netflix has said of Season 2.
The Sonic franchise celebrated its 32nd anniversary on June 23, 2023.
To coincide with the anniversary, Sega released the second free DLC update for Sonic Frontiers, and Sonic Origins Plus, an expansion pack for Sonic Origins which includes all 12 Sonic titles released for the Game Gear.
It also showed off more of Sonic Superstars, the new 2D Sonic the Hedgehog game announced last month.
Sonic Superstars lets players control either Sonic, Tails, Knuckles or Amy, and for the first time in a Sonic game, there is co-op support for up to four players.
It will be released in fall 2023 both digitally and physically, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
