NBA 2K24 is currently the second-worst reviewed Steam game ever
An underwhelming PC port means 2K Sports’ latest is just behind Overwatch 2
NBA 2K24 is currently the second-worst reviewed game on Steam.
According to Steam 250, which ranks the 250 best games and 100 worst games on Steam, 2K Sports‘ latest instalment in its basketball series has gone straight into the #2 spot in its Bottom 100 list.
The game’s Steam page says it currently has “overwhelmingly negative” reviews, with only 11% of the more than 2,800 reveiws submitted being described as positive.
Most of the backlash is aimed at the fact that the PC version of NBA 2K24 is based on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, rather than the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.
This means that not only is the game visually less impressive than the current-gen console versions, it also lacks certain modes including MyNBA and The W, and has a smaller open world in MyCareer mode.
“Extremely disappointed in the amount of effort put into this game,” reads a review by user King of RIPs. “I have both the Xbox Series X/S edition and the PC edition and the amount of features they have in the console edition, they totally could have made PC next gen.”
“The gameplay and animations are the same as in the previous versions,” says a review by user akuzi. “Once again, there’s only the current-gen version available for PC, which I don’t understand.”
“To top it all off,” adds user Skoardy, “the 2KTV segments before each game are gleefully bragging about how wonderful the story element in MyCareer is… for the next gen version.”
