The Monument Valley games are coming to PC with a new widescreen aspect ratio
The Panoramic Collection brings both games and their DLC to Steam, with ultrawide support
Monument Valley and its sequel will be released on PC in July.
The ports, which are being dubbed the Panoramic Collection, will come to Steam on July 12 and will include support for 21:9 aspect ratio for those with ultra-wide monitors.
Because the original games were played in portrait mode on mobile devices, the new Panoramic Editions of each game will drastically expand the backgrounds at either side of the play area, showing more of the environment.
This is highlighted in a new behind-the-scenes video, which can be seen below:
Each game’s Panoramic Edition will be available individually on Steam for £6.99 / $7.99.
They will each include all previous DLC packs, meaning the first game will come with Forgotten Shores and Ida’s Dream, while the second will include The Lost Forest.
Both games will also be available as a bundle called the Monument Valley Panoramic Collection, which will be sold at a 15% discount.
The first Monument Valley was released on iOS and Android in 2014, and was widely critically acclaimed – it currently has a score of 89 on Metacritic.
It also picked up numerous awards including 2015 International Mobile Gaming Awards’ Grand Prix and the BAFTA Video Game awards for Best British Game and Best Mobile / Handheld Game.
Its sequel was released in 2017 and was similarly praised, with a Metacritic score of 83 and Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2017.
Combined, both games have won 29 awards and have been downloaded more than 100 million times by players worldwide.
“We believe that Monument Valley: Panoramic Collection is the most sublime way to play these games and are thrilled to introduce their unique worlds to a whole new audience,” said developer ustwo Games’ game director Jennifer Estaris.
“It is our hope that these remastered versions of the beloved series will provide a meaningful experience to seasoned and new players alike.”
