Microsoft launches the Lunar Shift Xbox Series X/S controller
The colour-shifting design was leaked in September
Microsoft has officially confirmed and released another new Xbox Series X/S controller design, a couple of weeks after it was leaked.
The Lunar Shift design was spotted and shared on Twitter in late September, and now Microsoft has officially announced it.
The controller – whose full product name is the Xbox Wireless Controller Lunar Shift Special Edition – is available now in “select Xbox markets worldwide” at a price of $69.99.
Third-party peripheral manufacturer Razer has collaborated with Xbox to release a Universal Quick Charging Stand in the same Lunar Shift colours, available on the Microsoft Store for $49.99.
According to Xbox, the Lunar Shift controller shifts from silver to gold when the light hits it, “giving the controller a stylised, smokey atmosphere”.
The grips also have a grey and black swirls design, which is unique to each controller, and the triggers, bumpers and back case have a textured grip too.
This is the second time in as many months that a new Xbox Series X/S controller has leaked then been confirmed by Microsoft.
Last month a ‘Mineral Camo’ Xbox controller was listed by retailer Microplay, sporting a blue camouflage design.
Microsoft then officially confirmed the controller the following day, noting that it was available for purchase right away.
“The Mineral Camo controller features a bold mineral blue, bright purple, aqua, and dark purple camouflage pattern,” according to Microsoft.
“This colour design sets it apart from the others in the Camo collection as its ocean tones, inspired by geode crystals, finds the perfect balance between striking and subdued.”
