The game was officially unveiled during digital event Ubisoft Forward on Saturday, shortly after it was first revealed by a leak on Nintendo’s website.
New characters revealed in the trailer include Sparks (creatures that are part Rabbid, part Luma from Super Mario Galaxy) and Rabbid Rosalina.
A now pulled product listing for the strategy title, which will be released in 2022, read: “Team up with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Luigi, and their friends on a galactic journey to defeat a malevolent entity and save your Spark companions. Explore planets throughout the galaxy as you uncover mysterious secrets and compelling quests!”
Nintendo‘s website also listed the following features:
- Build your dream team with three heroes from an eclectic roster of nine.
- Take down all new bosses, along with some familiar enemies throughout the galaxy.
- Rescue the adorable Sparks throughout the galaxy, who provide distinct powers that will help you in battle.
- Unleash your heroes’ skills but be strategic as you dash your enemies, team jump on your allies, and hide behind covers.
The original Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was released in 2017 and was critically acclaimed for its sense of humour and its solid tactical gameplay.
A year after launch, it received a DLC expansion called Donkey Kong Adventure, which was similarly well received.
