Lego Fortnite is seeing higher player counts than Fortnite Battle Royale
Over 1200 Fortnite skins now have Lego versions
Newly-launched Lego Fortnite is currently seeing more players than Fortnite Battle Royale.
At the time of writing, the Lego mode of the game is seeing over 2.1 million players at peak times, with the main Battle Royal mode managing just over 2 million.
The game’s other two recently introduced modes, Rocket Racing (developed by Epic acquisition Psyonix) and Fornite Festival (developed by Epic acquisition Harmonix) are seeing just under 800,000 players and 600,000 players respectively.
Fortnite’s new Lego mode is a survival and crafting-themed experience, not unlike Minecraft. In this mode, players collect Lego items in the world of Fortnite, and then use them to create houses, buildings and other objects.
Alongside the launch of this mode over 1200 in-game costumes have received free Lego variations.
While not every skin in Fortnite will receive this treatment, likely due to licensing issues with the hundreds of officially licensed characters in the game, every original Epic-made skin for the game will receive one.
Some licensed properties, such as Star Wars and Marvel, have also had Lego versions of their in-game skins made, likely made possible due to existing licensing agreements between Lego and Disney.
Lego has also traditionally strayed from working with adult properties, so it’s unlikely that characters like the Xenomorph from the Alien franchise, or Robocop get a Lego version.
