Electronic Arts has said it’s planning a major testing programme for the new Battlefield game in early 2025.

Having revealed the first details on its next Battlefield game earlier this week, the company provided another update on the project during its annual investor day on Tuesday.

“We’re building a connected universe set in the modern day, for players filled with Battlefield experiences, all of them built with our unique DNA,” said Byron Beede, group general manager for Battlefield.

The first piece of concept art for the game, which was released on Monday and is viewable below, points to the inclusion of land, sea and air combat.

“I also want to share with you that internally, we’ve been playing the game nearly daily for well over a year,” said Beede, who also served as general manager of Activision‘s Call of Duty franchise prior to joining EA in 2021.

“In addition to internal testing cycles, we’re already testing with players, and we plan to introduce a new large-scale, community-driven testing programme early next year,” he added.

EA announced in April that Dead Space remake and Star Wars: Squadrons studio Motive had joined its wider Battlefield development team. Motive is working alongside fellow internal studios DICE, Criterion and Ripple Effect on the new Battlefield.

Beede said DICE is “leading the charge on multiplayer”, while Criterion is “driving content and experiences across single player and multiplayer”.

“Motive brings their rich history in single player storytelling and action to the Battlefield mix”, and Ripple Effect is “working a new Battlefield experience fuelled by our unique Battlefield DNA that’s been testing really well with players”.

Beede claimed that Battlefield players have invested over 250 million hours in the series over the last 12 months.

During its investor day, EA also confirmed that Respawn is developing “the final chapter” of its Star Wars Jedi story.
