Koei Tecmo is following Capcom and Bandai Namco in raising employees’ base salaries
The Japanese publisher will give its workers a 23 percent base increase
Koei Tecmo has become the latest Japanese games publisher to significantly increase staff salaries.
In order “to improve employee job satisfaction”, the Dynasty Warriors maker has announced plans to introduce an average 23 percent increase in base salary, it said on Friday.
On average the move will see workers take home an extra 73,000 yen ($569) each month.
Koei Tecmo will also increase the monthly starting salary for new graduates by 56,000 yen ($436) to 290,000 yen ($2,260), it said.
And in addition to its regular performance bonus, Koei Tecmo said it’s introducing a new special bonus to reward employees for early achievement of its mid-term management plan.
The changes will be introduced in June but backdated to the start of the company’s fiscal year this month.
The announcement comes on the back of a “favourable” performance in the company’s last fiscal year and reflects its confidence that it will exceed its profit target during the current fiscal year.
“We are implementing these measures in order to reward our employees for their efforts and to create a better working environment for their further growth,” Koei Tecmo said.
“Based on the belief that human resources are the most important asset of the Group, we have long been working on measures to improve the job satisfaction of our employees.”
