Cyberpunk 2077 star Keanu Reeves has played the game and is highly impressed with it.
That’s according to CD Projekt president and joint-CEO Adam Kiciński, who was asked what the actor thought of the upcoming title during an earnings call on Wednesday.
“He played the game”, Kiciński said (transcribed by Seeking Alpha). “But as far as I know haven’t finished yet. So — but definitely, he played the game and he loves it.”
Reeves, who plays “legendary rockerboy” Johnny Silverhand in the game, took centre stage in last week’s Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire stream.
Explaining what attracted him to the role, he said: “You get to play a character in so many kind of different ways because of different paths or threads or choices, so you almost get to play one moment, say you have a decision, with three different behavioural attitudes, so that was fun.”
During its earnings call on Wednesday, CD Projekt also addressed recently leaked gameplay showing the unpatched physical version of the game running on PS4, which one consumer posted online after obtaining an early copy.
“Regarding the leak, fortunately, there were not too many spoilers because this is the ugliest thing installing the game before it is released. So, it was not harmful,” Kiciński said.
Shortly after the leak, CD Projekt released the first official gameplay of Cyberpunk 2077 running on PS4 Pro and PS5 via backwards compatibility. The video highlighted some of the exact same areas as the leaked footage and included a number of the fixes coming in a day one patch on December 10.
