It’s official: Gears of War E-Day is coming in October, and PS5 won’t be getting it

Xbox has revealed the release date for Gears of War: E-Day, and confirmed that it will no longer be coming to PS5.

Today’s Xbox Games Showcase opened with gameplay from the upcoming game, along with confirmation that it will be released on October 6, and will be on Game Pass on day one.

Xbox CEO also confirmed that the game will be an Xbox console exclusive, meaning it will be coming to PC, but not PS5 as previously announced.

Rumours had been circling around Gears of War: E-Day after Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb claimed on Saturday that the game was no longer coming to PlayStation.

“Gears of War: E-Day was gonna be on PS5. It’s not anymore” he said during a stream. “That just happened. That is a decision that just got made.”

Speculation about Gears of War: E-Day’s release date intensified when it was announced that the game would be sponsoring Triplemania, a two-day WWE wrestling event in collaboration with Mexican promotion AAA set to take place on September 11 and 13.

Given that WWE has often featured video game sponsorships and other tie-ins around their release dates, some took this news as a suggestion that Gears of War: E-Day was planned a release in or around September.
