Inti Creates says it could ‘easily’ remake Zelda 2 ‘if Nintendo let us’
President shared ‘dream remake’ ambition last year
Inti Creates president Takuya Aizu has said he doesn’t think Nintendo’s upcoming Link’s Awakening remake has improved his chances of creating a similar update of Zelda II.
Aizu revealed in a 2018 interview that he would “love to make a new The Adventure of Link for the modern era,” should Nintendo be open to such a collaboration.
Since those comments the platform holder has announced The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, a remake of the 1993 Game Boy title of the same name.

However, asked if he thinks Nintendo’s move has increased the chances of him making a similar update based on Zelda II, Aizu told VGC: “I don’t really think it’s made an impact.”
He explained that his original comments were based on an interview question asking him what his dream remake would be.
“I just happen to really like Zelda II and when asked, I said that would be my dream remake,” he said. “It’s not like some super, grand ambition or anything like that.
“Obviously there are a lot of hurdles to make those sorts of games, but in a perfect world we could easily do that here at Inti Creates if Nintendo let us. It would be cool!”
Inti Creates is one of Japan’s most high-profile independent developers and is known for its action platformer games Mega Man Zero, Azure Striker Gunvolt and Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon.
Inti is increasingly targeting Nintendo Switch with its retro-inspired catalogue of digital games, with seven titles released to date on the platform.
Aizu said he believes the console’s recent success – especially in Japan, where it recently overtook lifetime sales of PS4 – is down to simple merging of audiences.
“It’s a pretty simple reason, I think. You have a bunch of fans of Nintendo’s home consoles, from NES up until Wii U, and then you have this whole section of other people who are fans of portables, from Game Boy until 3DS.
“What the Switch does for the first time ever is combine those giant fanbases into one. So it’s pretty simple, really. That’s why it’s selling so well.”
