A buff to the FR 5.56 coinciding with the launch of Season 5 this month appears to have unintentionally carried over to the underbarrel shotgun attachment.
According to testing conducted by content creator TheXclusiveAce, the attachment enables players to down opponents with full health and full armour plates with just one shot at a range of up to 15 metres.
“I did the testing on this and it appears they’ve made the ranges basically infinite for the base version of the FR 5.56—I’m talking about the bullets, not the underbarrel shotgun—because I was dealing the same damage at 200 metres as I was up close,” TheXclusiveAce says.
“So what I suspect has happened here is that range increase also carried over to the underbarrel shotgun on the FR 5.56.”
Responding to the problem, developer Infinity Ward said: “We’ve identified the issue with the FR 5.56 and are currently working on a fix. We’ll share more details as they become available. Thank you all for your patience.”
On Saturday Infinity Ward released a fix for graphical corruption bugs which result in weapons taking on jagged appearances that vary in size and can obstruct the player’s vision by covering large sections of the screen.
Publisher Activision recently launched an alternate reality game as part of its marketing campaign for the next premium Call of Duty title, Black Ops Cold War.
Treyarch and Raven Software are developing the game, which is expected to be officially revealed later this month via Call of Duty Warzone.
Warzone has attracted over 75 million players since releasing on March 10, according to Activision.
