Henry Cavill is teasing a Mass Effect project
Superman actor posts a blurred script, which fans discover contains a game synopsis
Actor Henry Cavill is teasing a potential live-action Mass Effect project.
The Superman and The Witcher star posted a blurred image of what appears to be a script page on his Instagram page on Wednesday, along with the message: “Secret project? Or just a handful of paper with random words on it…. Guess you’ll have to wait and see.”
However, as discovered by site GamePressure, modifying the blurred script in Photoshop reveals a string of words related to BioWare’s Mass Effect series, including “Cerberus”, “Reaper” and “Geth”.
The text appears to match the synopsis for Mass Effect 3, taken from the game’s Wikipedia page:
“Following the events on Tuchanka and a failed coup by Cerberus to take over the Citadel, the quarians offer their support to the Alliance if Shepard helps them reclaim their homeworld, Rannoch, from the geth.
Assisted by a quarian, either Tali’Zorah or Admiral Daro’Xen, Shepard boards a geth dreadnought and rescues a captive geth unit, either Legion or a facsimile occupied by a geth virtual intelligence (VI), then disables the Reaper control signal over the get.”
It’s possible that the script could be related to a potential live-action Mass Effect project, or one of the upcoming games. Cavill is a renowned fan of video games and has cited titles such as Fallout, Half-Life and The Witcher as his all-time favourites.

The actor is currently filming the second season of Netflix‘s successful The Witcher show, which he says attracted him due to its respect of the video game source material. He’s even published a video of himself building a gaming PC.
Publisher Electronic Arts has recently kicked off marketing for a pair of Mass Effect games. Legendary Edition – a remaster of the first three Mass Effect games for console and PC – is due to release in May.
BioWare also announced last year that an original Mass Effect title has started development. The “next chapter of the Mass Effect universe” is being made by a “veteran team” at the company.
Video game adaptations have become a hot item in the movie and television world in recent years. Following the recent wave of successful video game movies, including Sonic the Hedgehog and Detective Pikachu, more projects are in development including Uncharted (starring Tom Holland), Mortal Kombat and Dreamworks’ Super Mario movie.
Sony is reportedly developing three movies and seven TV shows based on PlayStation games, as part of its new PlayStation Productions business.
The first TV series from PlayStation Productions will be an HBO adaptation of The Last of Us, with Game of Thrones actors Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey cast in the lead roles. The second is an action comedy based on the Twisted Metal series from Deadpool’s writers.
And according to a recent report in the film press, Star Wars and Dune actor Oscar Isaac will play Solid Snake in the planned Metal Gear Solid movie.
