GTA 6 is confirmed to run at 30 frames per second

Grand Theft Auto 6 likely won’t run at 60 frames per second at launch.

That’s according to Rockstar Games head of development Rob Nelson, thanks to YouTube personality Davy Jones. Davy Jones was able to visit Rockstar North ahead of the GTA 6 Extended Look and confirms that the game was indeed running at 30 frames per second.

Players have been hoping that the PS5 Pro version of GTA 6 might include a 40 FPS mode for 120Hz displays, but these hopes have not been confirmed, and Nelson’s statement from Davy Jones indicates that this will not be the case, at least not at launch.

GTA 5 originally launched on PS3 and Xbox 360, but did not receive a 60 FPS mode on consoles until the PS5 and Xbox Series release of the game. The original Red Dead Redemption received recent console ports that allow it to run at 60 FPS and 4K resolution, though the sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, is still limited to 30 FPS on consoles.

A PC version of GTA 6 has not yet been announced, though that will likely be the first place that players see a high framerate version of the game.
