GTA V, which arrives on current generation platforms on March 15, 2022, loads around 3 times faster than its PS4 version, VGC has found.
In our testing, which saw us booting the game from the main menu into the story mode, we found that the PS5 version loaded in around 27 seconds, whereas the PS4 version takes over a minute and a half.
While the PS5 version doesn’t quite load as quickly as many other flagship titles on the system, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which can load the entire game in a few seconds, it’s still a huge improvement.

We’ve also been taking a look at how the game’s new fidelity mode stacks up against the PS4, a full gallery comparing the two can be found here.
The PlayStation 5 version of Grand Theft Auto V’s “Story Mode” is currently listed for pre-order for just £8.75 / $9.99 on the PlayStation Store.
However, on Xbox Series X/S the Story Mode and GTA Online costs £17.49 / $19.99, while GTA Online is available separately for £8.99 / $9.99 (and requires Xbox Live Gold).
This means to buy both modes, PlayStation 5 owners will only have to spend £8.75 / $9.99, whereas Xbox Series X/S owners will have to spend double at £17.49 / $19.99.
