Google has cut the Stadia price to $100/£90
Cost of the Premiere Edition reduced; new Stadia Connect stream also announced
Google has introduced a significant Stadia price cut just seven months after the platform’s November 2019 launch.
It’s now offering the Stadia Premiere Edition (which lets you play games on your TV using Google Chromecast Ultra and a Stadia Controller) for $99.99/£89.99/€99.99, down from its $129/£119/€129 launch price.
“Stadia Premiere Edition is now $99.99,” reads Stadia’s website. “Instead of including a code for Stadia Pro in Premiere Edition, new users can get Stadia Pro for free by signing up at Stadia.com.”
Prior to the price cut, Stadia Premiere Edition came with a three-month Stadia Pro trial subscription.
Normally priced at $9.99/£8.99 per month, Stadia Pro offers 4K/HDR streaming with 5.1 surround sound and free games each month.
Since June 3, Google has been offering Stadia Pro free for one month for new users.
June’s free Stadia Pro games are The Elder Scrolls Online, Superhot, Little Nightmares, Panzer Dragoon: Remake, Get Packed, and Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid.
A free version of Stadia, previously known as Stadia Base, launched in April, offering up to 1080p streaming with stereo sound.
Google also announced on Wednesday that it will provide a look at upcoming Stadia Games in its next Connect stream on July 14.
The company apologised earlier this month after it made an early build of Ubisoft’s unreleased adventure game Gods and Monsters available to play on Stadia.
